Ladies’ flex (L-flex) golf clubs have the most flexible shafts available, and are designed for golfers with swing speeds typically in the 60–75 mph range. Because there is so much flex in the shaft, there’s a noticeable whip effect as the backswing turns into a downswing.

Timing this whiplash effect so it coincides with impact with the ball can help generate extra clubhead speed, despite the swing being slower overall.

The downside is that there could be a slight loss of precision, but distance usually makes up for that. These clubs are also lighter than men’s clubs, reducing physical strain and promoting a faster swing tempo.

The enhanced flexibility produces high ball flights with maximum carry distance. Although, as the name suggests, these are primarily aimed at female golfers, ladies’ flex also suits some junior players of both sexes, as well as seniors with reduced strength and beginners developing their swing.

Although pro female golfers, with their extensive training and practice, tend to use stiff or regular flex shafts, ladies’ flex suits the majority of women who play golf recreationally or at lower levels of competition.

Check out our fantastic range of pre-owned ladies’ flex golf clubs, in left and right handed versions, from brands like Callaway, PING, Titleist, Mizuno and Slazenger. Every used club goes through our stringent quality control to make sure you know exactly what you’re buying.

Men's golf clubs generally have longer and heavier shafts, stiffer flex options and slightly larger grip sizes compared to ladies clubs. They're designed to suit faster swing speeds and generate optimal distance and control. Ladies clubs however are lighter and built to optimise launch, speed and distance for slower swing speeds.

The flex of a club refers to how much the shaft bends during your swing. It affects how much energy is transferred from your swing to the ball, influencing distance, accuracy and trajectory. The faster you swing a golf club the firmer or "stiffer" you need your flex to be.

Choosing the right shaft depends on swing speed and tempo. Golfers with faster swings need a stiffer shaft and slower needing a softer shaft. If you're unsure on what you need, you can get fit by a professional, work it out from your distances or simply drop one of our team a message and we'll help guide you to the flex you need.

The flexible shafts allow the clubhead to accelerate more through impact. This helps golfers hit the ball higher and further even when the swing isn't fast. They are typically also shorter than men's flex clubs so can be ideal for ladies or juniors transitioning between junior clubs to men's clubs.

It's generally better to keep all of your clubs the same flex to maintain consistency and performance. Mixing ladies clubs with stiffer or heavier shafts can make your swing feel inconsistent and reduce accuracy.
